BJP asks PM not to make just cosmetic announcements: Jitendar | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Mar 3: The BJP State Chief Spokesperson and National Executive Member Dr. Jitendra Singh today said that the visit of Prime Minister should not end up creating further confusion and contradiction instead of solving the existing conflicts. Calling upon the Prime Minister to address the genuine problems of the region instead of making cosmetic announcements and performing cosmetic ceremonies during his visit to Jammu. Jitendra Singh stated that the steps undertaken for settlement of displaced Kashmiri Pandit community are quite inadequate despite the hype created by the government. He also insisted that the West Pakistan and PoK refugees also ought to be treated with equal concern. ”The West Pakistan refugees deserve immediate grant of citizenship and state subject rights for which they have been struggling for the last over 60 years while the refugees of 1965 and 1971 are still awaiting proper rehabilitation and compensation inspite of recommendations made from time to time by a series of committees and commissions set up from time to time by the government itself”, he said.Singh alleged that the PoK refugees also hold the grievance of government handing them out assurances and promises which are unrealistic and far-fetched.
He said it was also time to consider abrogation of Article of 370 and other barriers between the state of Jammu and Kashmir and the Union of India. He reminded the PM that the Special Status under Article 370 has proved to be harmful during all these years after its incorporation and sooner it goes better it will be for the country as well as the state. Singh hoped that the Prime Minister, during his visit, would not say or announce anything that appeases, encourages or boosts the morale of separatist forces in the state and demoralizes the security forces.
