Gujars apprise PM on community’s backwardness

Jammu, Mar 4: A delegation of delegates of Akhil Bhartiya Gujar Mahasabha, J&K chapter belonging to different districts of J&K met the Prime Minister,.Manmohan Singh today under the leadership of Ishfaq-ur-Rehman Poswal and apprised him of the various problems being confronted by the most backward community of the State.
The referral points raised in the previous meeting with the PM at SKICC on 8th June, 2010 were again brought to his kind notice for immediate redressal of the woes of the Gujar community in the state.
Various developmental activities being carried in the state for the upliftment of Gujars are lacking true implementation on ground as per the Central Govt. rules framed for the Tribal and Nomadic tribes. If a separate ministry is provided for implementation of welfare and development works with implementing personnel posted District wise only then the actual development shall prove on ground for such schemes as IAY,NREGA,Angawari, Rebhr-i-Taleem ,SCA to TSP, Art.275 etc.
The middle cadre personnel shall be more fruitful in carrying out all such works with close supervision.
After our meeting held at SKICC, Srinagar(Kmr) with the PM on 8th June,2010, a Central Secretary Tribal Affairs, Sh.G.B.Mukherjee, was sent for a four days visit but till date nothing positive took place,
Mr.Poswal brought to the kind notice of the PM..Poswal also appreciated the submission of Rangarajan Committee Report for the employment of youth in J&K. Moreover, Poswal adhered that for the Gujar community the scheme should imply for Under-Matric youths and they may be recruited in the CRPF/BSF/State Police/CISF
/Army etc. Ishfaq-ur-Rehman Poswal pleaded for political reservation for Gujars in Legislative Assembly/Legislative council.
The delegation comprised of Ch.Naik Alamfrom Kupwara; Ch.Ab.Rashd from Badgam District; Mir Hussain Fida from Shopian, Ch.Jamal-ud-Din from Handwara; Ch. Yasin from Kupwara.
The PM gave a patient and sympathetic hearing and assured best of his help for considering and getting implemented to the satisfaction of the delegation.
