NSF protest against Pm’s Jammu visit, burn effigy | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Mar 4: Activists of National Secular Forum today held protest demonstration in the campus and also burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Manmohan SinghNSF activists throughout the state were wearing black badges to protest against the PM’s visit to city of temple and also to show there resentment against delay in coming up with demands of NSF which has not met so far.Protesting scholars and students led by Vikas Sharma, NSF state president has taken a strong cognizance of the PM’s visit to city of temple.He said that where Agricultural technocrats are being brutally beaten up by the police in the state who demand the jobs and the technocrats who got degrees in 1996 and onwards are waiting for the jobs and protesting for the last 15 years. On the other side Prime Minister is giving degrees to the candidates who passed BSc, MSc and PhD in agriculture from Sher-e Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences. Vikas Sharma said that Congress government has failed on all fronts in the country. Day by day corrupt ministers of the government are being exposed leaving behind no credibility. He said that life of common people has become miserable.He added corruption is on rise in the Jammu University and there is no eye on it. He held Prof Varun Sahni for shielding fraudulent and corrupt officials of the university.NSF also alleged that funds in every department whether it is in Controller or Registrar’s office or Dean Student Welfare, they are not utilized properly while the authorities failed to fix the responsibility. “The higher officials of the varsity are living a luxurious life by spending the funds meant for students’ community, while students are being deprived of basic amenities and infrastructure .This is not to be tolerated,” he charged.He said that NSF will continue its struggle for the social cause and appealed the people of the state to come forward and expose the corrupt. Among those who were present in the protest included, Sukdev Singh, Kamaldeep Singh Balveer Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Mohd. Qayoom Malik, Layaqat Ali Khan, Mohd. Zamir, Muzaffar Iqbal, Irfan Ahmed, Irshad, Zaheer, Ajaz Shah, Imran, Zahoor, Washim, Zulfkar, Shri Ram and others.
