Three physiotherapists from Haryana and Rajasthan are also sitting on hunger strike demanding the Jammu and Kashmir government should announce a comprehensive job package for the physio of state.
Speaking on the occasion, Haryana Physiotherapists Association president Dr Jagat Singh said that if there demands are not met, they would be forced to take violent path to get their rights.
Another protester Dr Mandeep Singh had taken strong exception of the apathetic attitude of the administration and alleged that voice of the physiotherapist is being suppressed by government with use of brute force.
Protesters alleged that its very unfortunate that no step has been taken to address their problem and during past 100 days not a single Minister or senior government official has heard their issue.
It is pertinent to mention here that apart from demanding jobs, agitators are demanding formation of J&K State Council of Physiotherapy and filling up of the posts through Public Service Commission (PSC).
They are also demanding re-opening of Government Physiotherapy College and opening Physiotherapy Departments at each PHC level across Jammu and Kashmir.

At the moment there are two batches doing the course from Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu. Added to this are hundreds of degree holders who have completed their degrees from the private physiotherapy colleges in the state and other parts of the country, who are unemployed. There have been only four appointments of the Physiotherapists in health department between year 1984-2010.
