PoK refugees protest, demand compensation

JAMMU, Mar 04: On the visit of prime minister Manmohan Singh here
today, PoK refugee front held a peaceful demonstration, demanding relief for the displaced persons.The persons displaced in 1947, 1965 and 1971 from Chhamb, Deva
Watala, Mirpur, Bhimber, Manawar, Nah, Kotli, Palandari, Bagh, Poonch and Muzaffarabad gathered at Maheshpura Chowk and held a demonstration.
Speaking on the occasion, front general secretary Rashpal Singh urged the prime minister to start the process of distributing relief, which was sanctioned by the Centre in 2000, in favour of the displaced persons.
He alleged that the Centre had adopted a discriminatory attitude towards them.
Chib said if the sanctioned relief was not distributed among them at the earliest, they would be forced to launch an agitation in the winter capital
