I accept responsibility for CVC controversy: PM | | | Jammu: The Prime Minister who was quiet on the controversy that enveloped appointment of Central Vigilance Commissioner PJ Thomas, today broke his silence and said he accepted the responsibility for the same. However, he ruled out there were any coalition compulsions as far as his appointment was concerned. Prime Minister spoke a day after the Supreme Court quashed the controversial appointment of Thomas as the CVC. “ This is not a question related to compulsion of coalition… rest I respect the judgment of the Supreme Court ….. I also accept the responsibility for it…….”, Dr Manmohan Singh said while addressing a press conference this evening. Obviously the judgment has been pronounced by the Apex Court of the country and as loyal citizen of the country I accept it, the Prime Minister added responding to related query. To another question on what would be his line of action in the matter particularly in the Parliament, he said, "I should speak to Parliament first…….. but I have not made up my mind. However, the issue is an important. It is necessary to ensure that such things do not happen again", the Prime Minister observed. It is pertinent to mention that after 2 G spectrum uproar, the UPA is under severe criticism and attack from the opposition over the appointment of Thomas as CVC.
