JAMMU, March 05: The medal tally of hosts Jammu and Kashmir Police has gone up to six with four bronze medal won by women boxers in the ongoing 59th All India Police Games Wrestling Cluster at different venues, here today.
Now, hosts J&K Police have one gold, one silver and four bronze in its medals tally of six. With boxing and weightlifting competitions still going on, there is hope for a couple of more medals in these events.
Earlier, late yesterday evening, J&K Police won a silver medal in wrestling. Benia Min, who lost to Manjeet of Haryana Police in the final, had to contain with a white in men’s 84 kg free style event. It is pertinent to mention here that J&K Police has already won gold in wrestling (Greco Roman) through Roshan Sharma, again in 84 kg weight category.
Meanwhile, in boxing men boxers could not make it to the victory stand. However, women made state police proud winning four bronze medals.
While Parveen Manhas won bronze in 45-48 kg category, Simmi Sharma clinched black in 51 kg group. Similarly, Shahnaz Akhtar and Anju Bala remained third in 60 kg and 81 kg weight groups respectively.
