Pahari youth forum takes out candle march

Jammu , March 5: All Jammu and Kashmir Pahari Speaking Youth Forum today took out a candle march in favour of their demands.
Speaking on the occasion, members of the Forum expressed anguish over the discriminatory attitude of the Central and the State Govt.
They, meanwhile, expressed dissatisfaction over the recent tour of PM Dr Manmohan Singh for not announcing much awaited ST status in favour of Pahari speaking people and also not considering their other demands
He said that keeping in view the recent political scenario in the State, Pahari Speaking people were hopeful that PM may announce sops to them but PM have given no word regarding their demands
It is pertinent to mention here that Pahari speaking People are fighting for granting of ST status since 1989 but noting has been done in this regard despite the fact that successive State Govt, and two PMs have made their announcement publically, working groups and team of interlocutors have also recommended it.
He further said that being one of the ancient language and enshrined in the constutition of J&K by constituent assembly nothing has been by both the centre and the state Govt for the development of this language and community, because there is no Pahari New Bulletin from Radio Kashmir Jammu/Srinagar, Language is still not included in the 8th schedule of constitution of India Pahari Bhawans are not constructed and there is no concrete policy to eradicate the problem of unemployment of this neglected and most backward community of the State.
Those who addressed includes Abrar Ahmed Kahn (Chairman), Gurdeep Singh, Thakur(President), Nadeem, Akram Sharma, Dr, Parasram, Murtaza Khan, Shafiat Naqvi, Khalil Khan, Aftab Ahmed, Khalid Shah, Sohail Shahzad Malik, Sauyyed Hussan Abbas (VPJU) Ashfaq Quarashi, Aslam, Iqbal Singh, Yassar Khan, Shams, Ahmed, Anees Charak, Tousef Bhat.
