| Shabir inaugurates 3-day sports competition | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Mar 6 Minister of State for Power Shabir Ahmad Khan today inaugurated 3-day Sports competition at Manjakote, Rajouri.
The 3- day Sports competition has been organized by the Youth Service and Sports Department under Panchayat Yuva Karershree Khel Abhiyan. In all, the youth drawn from 36 Panchayat Halqas will be participating in the sports competition. During the event, competitions like Khabadi, Volley Ball, Basket Ball and Foot Ball would be held among various participating teams.
Speaking at the inaugural function, the Minister said that extracurricular activities were must for the overall development of youth as there is old axiom that a healthy mind resides in a healthy body. He said sports sharpen the mental and physical skills of the individuals and also imbibe high standards of discipline and comradeship.
The Minister said that Government was making all endeavors to promote sports activities in the State, adding that massive sports infrastructure including development of play grounds and stadiums is being given priority by the government.
He hoped that such events would provide opportunity to the youth to show their skills and prepare themselves for State as well as National level competitions and bring laurels to the State.
