| Police foils smuggling attempt, bovine seized, two held | | | JAMMU NOV-12 To check the ever-growing smuggling of Bovines, the Police has launched a vigorous drive across Jammu region and the during past one week nearly a dozen truck loads of bovines have been seized and number of persons booked under the Smuggling Act. Continuing its drive against the smuggling, the Nagrota Police today arrested two bovine smugglers and recovered nine bovine animals from a truck being smuggled to Kashmir. After booking specific information about smuggling of bovine to Kashmir, the Nagrota Police party led by SHO Inspector Deepak Raina laid a special naka on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and intercepted a truck bearing registration NO JK03/3564. During the physical search of the truck, the Police party recovered nine bovines from the truck and arrested two persons boarding in the truck. Those arrested include Sonaullah son of Mohammed Ashur resident of Lower Mundi, Anantnag and Jamat Ali son of Saif Ali resident of Gadhigarh Jammu. Both have been shifted to Police station for questioning and during the preliminary investigation, the duo confessed that they have been in the business for last few years and have been frequently smuggling the bovine to Kashmir Valley for pecuniary benefits. Police have registered a case in this regard and investigation is on to ascertain the involvement of other persons in this illegal trade.
