Daughters of Panun celebrates Shivratri milan | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU,March 6 : Daughters of Panun Kashmir organised a Shivratri Milan programme here today. The programme was presided over by Chariperson, DOPK Moheni Raina, President BJP Shamsher Singh Manhas was the chief guest while President VHP Dr Ramakant Dubey, Ramesh Pappa, Sah-Prant Pracharak Pracharak-RSS and Dr Jitender Singh were the guests to honour. President Panun Kashmir Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo delivered the inaugural speech. The prominent among those who attended the function included H.L. Chatta, General Secretary ASKPC, Sardar KCS Mehta, Chairman KSDF, O.P Sharma, Commandant (Retd) BSF, Shakti Dutt Sharma, General Secretary Dogra Brahmin Pratinidhi Sabha and D.N.Kissu of NCMCC. The Programme was conducted by Virender Raina, National spokesperson PK and the vote of thanks was presented by Upinder Kaul, General Secretary, PK while welcome address was presented by Sarojini Kuchroo. The activists of DOPK presented special Shivratri mementos and Saropas to the dignitaries present in the function. Inderjeet Singh, a photojournalist was honoured with a shawl, saropa and a special memento in recognition of his services in the field of positive journalism. The Shri Guruji National Award- 2011” which was given by the RSS Jan Kallyan Smiti, Maharashtra to Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo for his consistent efforts in the struggle in exile of the Kashmiri Hindus was also displayed on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Shamsher Singh Manhas lauded the efforts of the activists of Panun Kashmir and said that the cordial relationship of Panun Kashmir leadership with BJP was reflective of BJP’s relationship with the Kashmiri Pandit community. This community has been in the forefront of the struggle for national cause and its displacement from Kashmir is a national concern. BJP has always stood by this community and will do whatever is possible to mitigate its sufferings. In his speech, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo said that he feels humbled with the coveted award Panun Kashmir’s struggle for the rights of the displaced Kashmiri Hindus continues unabatedly. The inauguration of the Jagti Township vindicates the stand that ‘rehabilitation’ and ‘resettlement’ were two different issues.
