Employees to stage state wide protest from March 23 | Police foils employees rally to Civil Secretariat | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Mar 7 : Police today foiled Jammu and Kashmir Government employees mass rally to Civil Secretariat in this winter capital of the state. Hundreds of employees of various J&K Department under the banner of All J&K Joint Action Employees Union this afternoon assembled outside Press Club of Jammu to proceed towards Civil Secretariat demanding pending arrears. Shouting slogans against Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, employees carrying banners and placards forcibly tried to proceed for Secretariat Gherao but their march was foiled by the heavy deployment of police and the para-military forces. Police, however, raised barricades and blocked road to curb employees rally. "The funds sanctioned by the Central Government are not being spent for genuine purpose and the employees have not been paid their pending dues," Abdul Qayoom, the Union leader told reporters. He said if the Government would not address their problems, the protests would continue and another rally would be taken on 23'd of March 2011 protest demonstration at all district head quarter, one day pendown/tooldown/chalkdown strike through out the state on April 4 and huge demonstrations on April 5 Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather tabled J&K Budget in the Legislative Assembly. Secretariat Employees Union leader Nazir Ahmed said the Budget has nothing special for the employees and the government has failed to keep their promises.
