| Manhas visits Khour block | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, March 7: BJP State President Shamsher Singh Manhas chaired and addressed a meeting of Panches and Sarpanches of Khour Block and took stock of the problems being faced by people living in far-flung and rural areas.
The BJP State President was told about the grievances and hardships of the people in the area which included misuse of BPL ration cards by certain ruling party politicians to procure ration at cheaper rates in favour of their blue-eyed people, thus depriving the poor of their legitimate right.
They also alleged that most of the welfare schemes and government funds were being dubiously diverted to benefit the areas and constituencies belonging to the Congress politicians, which is undemocratic and unconstitutional.
Manhas, while addressing the meeting, said that the grievances of the people are genuine and to get rid of such things it is important to strengthen the democracy at the grass-roots level which is only possible if the ensuing elections to the Panchayats are held after implementing the 73rd Amendment of the Indian Constitution
He said that the BJP is committed for the mitigation of the suffering of the rural people and once again reiterated the party’s stand for implementation of 73rd amendment so that the democracy flourishes in true sense.
