PHDCCI welcomes rather budget as industry friendly | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Mar 7: Vikrant Kuthiala, chairman, J&K Committee PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry has hailed the J&K State Budget The Budget is by and large presented keeping in view urgent needs of infrastructure development including roads, bridges and power projects, achievement of 100% literacy, creation of 50 Lakh skilled persons by the year ending 2022, self employment projects to generate employment in different sectors. Kuthiala said that special mention has been made in Budget about improvement in health care sector by early completion of Super Specialty Hospital and other such projects, Bio Medical Waste Treatment facility both in Jammu and Srinagar and redrawing the new Drug Policy to arrest the menace of spurious drugs etc. He said that the Finance Minister Rather has announced the continuation of all exemptions under VAT given to Industry, Hotels, Food grains etc, for another fiscal year. To give boost to Agriculture sector, many schemes and soaps have been announced including the exemption of VAT on Pesticides, Weedicides and insecticides. Rather has announced the removal of anamoly in case of Registered Industrial Units and verification of Raw material consumption. The act of state GST for mandatory registration has also been simplified.
He also presented his pleasure saying that Finance Minister has accepted the suggestions of PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry, J&K Committee about Open Access Power Purchase Scheme, reviewing and re-scheduling the Stamp Tax Act, Computerization of VAT Administration to provide on-line facilities, Computerization of Toll Plaza and Computerization of State Government Treasuries, however the increase in the rate of Toll Tax and adding 6 more services under the service Tax Act shall amount to increase in the Price Index.
