Barati among 4 killed, 32 hurt in two road mishaps

EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU: Four persons, including a marriage reveller and a couple, were killed and at least 32 others wounded, some of them critically, in two road mishaps here today.
Police sources said a barati was killed and at least 30 others were injured when the bus in which they were travelling skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge at Sana in Akhnoor tonight.
The ill-fated bus was carrying the marriage party from Kathar to Gasanu. It skidded off the road and fell into a 200 ft deep gorge at Sana at about 9 pm after the driver failed to negotiate a sharp curve.
One person was killed on the spot, while at least 30 others sustained injuries, the sources added.
The dead was identified as Vijay Kumar, son of Des Raj of Talwara, Reasi. The injured were admitted to the sub-district hospital, Akhnoor. However, following deterioration in their condition, about eight of them were referred to the GMC hospital here.
Meanwhile, in a head-on collision between a Tata Mobile and an Ambassador car at Barnara in Udhampur, three persons, including a couple, lost their lives, while two others were hurt critically.
The Tata Mobile (JK14A/5495) was on its way from Udhampur to Kathua, while the Ambassador was coming from the opposite direction. The dead were identified as Ambassador driver Rampal of Udhampur, Khem Raj and his wife Parmul and the injured as chief planning officer Hari Dutt of Jammu and his Lalita Devi.The injured were admitted to the GMC hospital.
Cases in this connection were registered at the concerned police stations.
