Keep check on the over-loading to avoid accidents on the roads : Div Com

JAMMU, MARCH 08-
In view of the High Court order, the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal convened a high level meeting of officers to discuss the issues regarding streamlining the traffic system in Jammu city.
In view of the High Court instructions, threadbare discussions regarding the regularization of traffic in the congested areas of the Jammu city was discussed in the meeting. The Divisional Commissioner instructed that the mini buses plying in Jammu city should have route permits or number plates at prominent place so as to make it easiest for the commuters to identify the route of the mini buses. He directed the concerned that instructions should be imparted to the mini buses drivers to the mid way stoppages and they should pick and drop the passengers from the identified stoppages only.
He instructed the Traffic authority to keep check on the over-loading of the vehicles to avoid accidents on the roads.
Strict instructions should be issued not to allow private buses, heavy goods carrier and heavy traffic to ply in the city. There should be no parking for stoppage of vehicles within the 50 meters of rotaries round ups. Eat points and such other things should be removed within the 50 meters from the rotaries, he added.
Dr. Kotwal stressed upon the authorities to identify places for parking the vehicles and more such projects should be sent to the government to minimize the congestion. He asked the Municipal authorities to speed up the Panjtirthi parking project, Parade parking project and other such projects which will help in the de-congestion of our roads.
The Divisional Commissioner also directed the Municipal authorities to take care of stray animals and growing population of dog should be taken care of to avoid such incidents.
