3/8/2011 11:29:22 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, March 8 :
The Jammu and Kashmir government Tuesday said mobile towers will be allowed to be erected in forest areas of the state only if it is certified that they will not harm the ecology.
Minister for Forests Mian Altaf Ahmad told the state assembly that mobile towers set up by various service providers in the state have impacted the environment and ecology, especially in the forest land.
He said that the government will study its impact on the environment.
'This fact has to come to our notice and we have decided to go in for a study. In future, mobile towers will not be allowed unless it is certified that they will not harm the ecology,' the minister told the assembly.
