Various organizations celebrated ‘International Women’s Day’ with vehemence

Jammu, March 8: On the occasion of the Internal Women Day, Gandhi Memorial College of Education (GMCEJ) organized a function and celebrated the day with great zeal and fervour.

Anil Dhar, President the Hindu Education Society Kashmir (HESK) was the chief guest. In his speech he emphasized on the need to promote women in our country.

In a similar function, Speak India Environment Foundation celebrated the International Women day at Shiva high School, Kathua. Various students and artists of SIEF participated in the event.

M R Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion. In his address, Sunil Sharma, chairman of the organization briefed about the importance of the Woman’s Day.

Even, Hill Peoples College of Education and trainings gloried the women Empowerment today on this event. The NSS volunteers of the college organized a rally to pay tribute to the most elegant and lovely incarnation of God on earth. The rally was flagged off by Prof. Sanjay Tickoo.

The rally comprising of faculty members, students and members of the management started from the college ground with the awareness banners, posters, charts, slogans and culminated in the heart of village Bhalwal.

A large number of NSS volunteers under the patronage of. Kuldeep Kumar Sharma, Incharge NSS unit approached the masses in the surroundings hamlets to enlighten them with the sacred glow of literacy.

In a massive women rally organized by JKNPP Women Power, deep concern was conveyed to the echelons of power in the Centre and State about the discrimination towards the women in different disciplines of the society in Jammu and Kashmir.

The committee demanded revival of the bill against domestic violence which was moved by Prof. Bhim Singh in the Legislative Council in 2006 and has been duly admitted and also cleared by the Select Committee.Anita Thakur, General Secretary-JKNPP and Chairperson of Women Power accused the State Government for ignoring the Women Commission and appointment of women parliamentarians, administrators and social activists on the government boards which have been monopolized by male gender for the past 60 years.

“In the era of violence, women have suffered beyond measure in Jammu & Kashmir especially in Kashmir. Thousands of women have been made widows; thousands lost their children. Numerous women have been raped and exploited sexually. For women folk this paradise on earth has changed into a very unsafe place,” said Dr Darakhshan Andrabi while addressing a public gathering held in the Church Lane in Srinagar in connection with International Women’s Day.
In her address, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi said that society has to shun the tendency of exploiting and de-rating women. She said that we cannot afford to be gifted with the notoriety of the sex-scandals. Dr Darakhshan said that in the modern world when women have taken a lead in different spheres of life, we at home have yet to give the womenfolk a place of dignity and honour.


The BJP Pradesh Mahila Morcha celebrated international Women’s Day under the supervision of vice president of the Morcha Suresh Jamwal at Kathua. On the occasion, large number of women activists of the Morcha were present with full enthusiasm and great fervor.

Singh said that the women are the basic and fundamental factor to establish the human society and the required status and dignity of the women are still under the challenges due to the existing of patriarchal social system.

The Mahila Adhikar Sangthan today organized programme to celebrate the International Women’s Day under the leadership of state president Santosh Khajuria.
Meanwhile, the Sangthan members flayed the state and centre budget which they termed as anti women, anti unemployed youth and almost anti entire sections of the society.
On the occasion, the women activists Sushma Avtar, Priti Sharma, Chanderkanta, Rajkumari, Sunita, Anmol Isher, and etc were present.
The SPEAK India Foundation celebrated the 8th March as International Women Day at Shiva Public High School Kathua. On the occasion, the Chairman of the School M.R Gupta was the chief guest. On the occasion the students held debates, dances songs and several other items. At last, all the participants were given the mementoes and gifts by the chief guest and the members of the SPEAK India foundations. On the occasion Chairman of the organization Monu Sharma, Naresh Kumar, Rajesh Gupta, Varinder Kour, Parul, and Sunny were present.
The Vivekananda College of Education organized a cultural programme to celebrate the International Women Day in the premises of the college. The students of the college presented wonderful items like songs drams, skits and etc to give the messages to equalize the male and female in the society. The principal Anju Sharma expressed her respect and honour towards
the female section of the society which is the fundamental part of the human civilization.
