Sprawling Buds holds painting contest on `Global Warming’ | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, March 09: To create awareness about the effects of climate change at young, a painting competition on the topic, “Global Warming” held at Sprawling Buds School, Chinore in Bantalab in collaboration with Directorate of Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing, here today. About 236 students of different age groups were involved in the activity at the school premises. While students from junior wing were involved in colouring competition, those from senior wing took part in drawing competition. Students made paintings highlighting the problems plaguing the environment in the form of air pollution, water pollution, deforestation etc. In the junior wing, Aakarshan Verma won the first prize while Mehak of Nursery standard and Deya Manhas of LKG bagged second and third prize respectively. The consolation prize went to Aryan Raina of UKG. In the senior wing, Aryan Sharma of second class secured first prize while Vaibhavi Sharma of fourth standard and Bhuvnesh Bhan of fifth obtained second and third prize respectively. Mehmood Ahmed of 3rd standard bagged consolation prize. Irshad Masoom Mir from the Department of Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing was chief guest, who interacted with the participating students and gave away them the prizes. He laid emphasis, while speaking to the gathering of students, on the importance of trees and effects of `Global Warming’. He also encouraged the students towards plantation for the survival of mankind. Prominent among others present were Principal, Puja Sharma, Director of the school, Arti Sharma, Satish Bhan, Honey Pandita and Kusum Lata Bhat of Directorate of Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing.
