| MIER celebrates International Women’s Day celebrated | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, March 9: International Women’S Day was commemorated at MIER College of Education by conducting a guest lecture by a noted women activist, Dr Poonam Dhawan, Director CACE and Extension and Center for Women Studies, University of Jammu.
Other noted dignitaries gracing the occasion were Dr Renu Gupta, Director Shanti Gupta, Center for Women Studies, MIER and Dr Surinder Kaur, Dr B. L. Raina , HOD M. Ed Wing , Rajendra Praveen, HOD, B.Ed Spl. Edu, Dr. D.R. Kapoor, HOD Research Wing of MIER College of Education.
Welcoming the distinguished guest, Dr. Renu Gupta highlighted her achievements in the field of women awareness and upliftment. She applauded her for being one of the role models for the younger generation.
The distinguished speaker deliberated upon ‘Equal Access to Education, Training, Science and Technology: Pathway to Decent Work for Women' which is the theme of year 2011.
This lecture was followed by a lively interactive session with the students of B Ed Special Education (MR) and M Ed, in which the queries of the audience were satisfactorily answered by the distinguished speaker.
A formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Surinder Kaur. The programme was conducted by Dr Ira Bhan, senior lecturer, PG Dept of the College. |
