3/9/2011 10:29:49 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, March 9- A large number of farmers led by state President of “All India Kissan Sabha” Dr. Ghanisham Singh Charak protest against the corrupt and casual policies of the government at village Chak Lala ,near Bari Brahamana, here today.
Charak complained its agriculture department towards the innocent farmer’s depression among them because of yellow rust disease to the 95% wheat crop of Jammu province.
S. Deep Singh, Pankaj Sangral and Kuldeep Kumar Rao, the active members of “All Jammu and Kashmir Movement for Peace and Justice” also participated in the protest as solidarity towards the poor and aggrieved farmer class. The protesting farmers shouted slogans against the anti farmer policies of the authorities demanding an immediate compensation for the spoiled wheat crop.
While addressing the farmers, Dr. Ghanisham Singh Charak blamed the state government and its agriculture department for their casual and corrupt approach towards the farmers who are feeling cheated. Supply of an untested/infected seed to the farmers by the agriculture department of government and its improper guidance to farmers is responsible for the large scale yellow rust disease of the present wheat crop, he added.
He also added that joking and ignorant trends against the farmers should be immediately stopped as these can prove suicidal for the nation at large. Demanding an immediate announcement of compensation from the state government, Dr. Charak, said that an early relief to the farmers, is its prime responsibility.
While speaking before the protesters, S. Deep Singh, the member of “All Jammu and Kashmir Movement for Peace and Justice” said that irresponsible and casual attitude of the improperly monitored research centers of government is responsible for the unwanted multiple problems of the farmers. It is the only section i.e. the innocent farmer’s class who at large serves the nation with a dedication and true spirit and any sort of unfair treatment to them will be sabotaging for the society and the nation as well.
