Relief to rain affected families in Banihal sanctioned: Rather | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, March 9-:- Finance Minister, Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather today informed the Legislative Assembly that the incessant spells of rain fall on 13 and 14 February 2011, resulted in landslides in Banihal constituency due to which, 16 houses were fully damaged and another 40 partially. The admissible relief in respect of 12 fully damaged Katcha house, 10,000/- each has been sanctioned on February 22, 2011, the disbursement with regard to which is under progress. In addition to the relief, these 12 families have been provided water-proof tents for their temporary rehabilitation. The payment of ex-gratia relief in respect of other four cases of village Chanjllo where complete damage to the residential houses has been reported is under process and the same shall be provided once the procedural formalities are completed. These four families have been temporarily settled in PWD inspection, hut and RDD Community Hall in village Chanjloo, said Mr. Rather. The Minister further said that the payment of ex-gratia in respect of 40 partially damaged houses, the necessary verification, which has got hampered and delayed due to rains, is being carried out shortly. Once the said verification is completed, the admissible assistance shall be provided to the affected families, he maintained. Mr. Rather was replying to the Calling Attention Notice of Mr. Vaqar Rasool on behalf of the Revenue Minister.
