Seminar on history, culture of Bhalessa organised | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu , March 9; With a view to provide assess to the remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir, a Bhalessa based NGO National Students Welfare Association and Bhalessa Heritage Centre organized a one day seminar on history and culture of Bhalessa at K L Sehgal Hall of J&K Academy of Art culture and Languages, wherein the eminent personalities, historians, writers, officials focused on the roots of the history of the area. It is pertinent to mention that Bhalessa is known, not only for its rich cultural heritage and ethical values but also popular for its age-old traditions of secularism and the spirit of tolerance, which have been since times immemorial, binding the people together. The event aimed at to bring together leaders, educational administrators, writers, officials of repute, students, teachers, prominent citizens to discuss various issues . Mohammed Sharief Niaz, former Minister and MLA Bhaderwah was the chief guest. K.K Bhat Regional Director IGNOU was guest of honor. Later, a website on Bhalessa www.bhalessa.com hosted by NSWA was inaugurated. The first ever website on Bhalessa may help the current posterity and the people at international level to have access about Bhalessa's heritage and culture. The website was launched by Abdul Aziz Batt former Registrar, the then J&K University. In his welcome address, Sadaket Malik, Chairman NSWA and Bhalessa Heritage Centre asked for the preservation of age old traditions. Mohammed Shafi Mattoo, an eminent writer of Bhalessa extended his lecture on "History, Cultural Heritage of Bhalessa-Present Past and future. The lectures were delivered by Mir Munwar Din, ex ZEO, K K Bhat Regional Director IGNOU, Abdul Aziz Khan, retd. SP, Dina Nath Bhall, Mohd. Ishaq Aarif and several others. Meanwhile, the NGO felicitated Krishan Kumar of Bhalessa who recently qualified IFS examination and eight others who make their victory in Combined competitive examination 2009 batch include, Yaseeen Wani, Irfan Majeed Malik, Mohd. Ashraf Haroon Niak, Pervaiz Niaz, Mohd. Iqbal Zargar, Shoket Ali Rather, Muzafar Rather, Dr. Jatinder Singh, Chander Kant, and others. These candidates belong to a remote Bhalessa and have made history in the state to enlighten the area by qualifying IFS and KAS examinations. The NGO also awarded several activists and officials including Sub Divisional Megistrate Bhalessa, Shabeer Ahmed Keen and Sarfaraz Batt for outstanding performance in singing and representing Bhalessa at National level in Indore. In his Presidential address, Abdul Aziz Batt, Former Registrar, Jammu University, stressed the youth to conserve their culture and identity at gross root level. He appreciated the NGO for organizing such events for harnessing the culture and civilization of Bhalessa. K K Bhat, Director IGNOU appreciated the role of NGO in promoting education in the area besides several other activities and institutions of the organization.
