55 cr to be allocated for VRS and GHS in PSUs | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, March 9:The state Government plans to encourage voluntary retire men scheme(VRS) and Golden Handshake scheme(GHS) in public sector undertakings to reduce the annual losses in these corporation.
Official said that during the last five years the state Government has gradually encouraged employees in these public sector corporations to accept the VRS or the GHS so that the degree of annual losses was further reduced. The state Government plans to earmark Rs.55 crores for VRS and GHS during 2011-12 period. There are 20 Public sector units in Jammu and Kashmir and except for four all the remaining 16 continue to be in the red. The four that have been showing some profit are able to meet their daily requirement and not in a position to contribute to the state exchequer.
Government has earmarked Rs.55 crores for implementing the VRS and GHS programme for reducing annual losses. .
