All efforts initially were concentrated on evacuating the trapped villagers, specially women and children, as majority of them were asleep at that point of time.
While the villagers were busy retrieving their belongings from the burning homes, the Army continued its relief operations unabated throughout the night till the arduous task of dousing the fire was completed by 0500hrs in the morning. Though the Army was successful in preventing loss to human life, the loss to livestock & cattle was approx 350 goats/ sheep, 45 horses & over 125 buffaloes (Zoombas).
