Jammu, March 9: Following allegations of bribe charges and corruption which resounded in a ‘dramatic’ manner in the state Assembly today, Jammu and Kashmir Government today ordered the suspension of Assistant Regional Transport Office Doda. The allegations were made by the BJP legislator Jagdish Raj Sapolia that no norms were adhered in issuing route permits in the districts of Doda and Kishtwar.
‘’The ARTO Vipin Singh Charak has been placed under suspension with immediate effect while an enquiry committee has been constituted under the supervision of RTO Jammu Virender Slathia to find out the facts,’’ Qamar Ali Akhoon, Minister for Transport told reporters outside the Legislative Assembly here.
Akhoon said that the Commissioner Secretary Transport and Secretary have also been directed to go through the CD provided by the BJP legislator in the House, to find out the involvement of any other officer of the department adding, ‘’if anybody will be found guilty, stern action will be taken against him.’’
BJP MLA from Basholi Jagdish Sapolia today waved CD and Rs 20,000 during Question Hour in the ongoing Budget Session alleging that the amount was offered as a bribe by the ARTO Doda to a complainant who objected issuance of permits to the ill-fated vehicles.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator today waved compact disc and currency notes alleging that Additional Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) in mountainous Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir took bribe in lieu of issuing Fitness Certificate to worn out public transport vehicle.
BJP MLA from Basholi Jagdish Sapolia waved CD and Rs 20,000 in the denomination of 1000 currency notes during Question Hour in the ongoing Budget Session.
The MLA alleged that the amount was offered as a bribe by the ARTO Doda to a complainant who objected issuance of permits to the ill-fated vehicles.
Sapolia alleged that the complainant was being bribed by the ARTO for not making the issue public. While, the MLA made this allegation, senior BJP leader Prof Chaman Lal Gupta intervened and sought probe by the Speaker contending since the allegations were made in the House, the matter needed to be probed by the Speaker. However, Speaker said he had full faith and confidence in the concerned minister that he would not get influenced by anyone while initiating probe into the matter.
Meanwhile Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone said that the MLA raised grave allegations against the government employee and he has to be careful while making such statements.
However, Minister for Transport, Qamar Ali Akhoon assured the House and if the allegations raised against the ARTO would be proved, a strict action would be taken against him.
