| Army Commander on three day visit to Leh | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, March 10: Lieutenant General KT Parnaik, UYSM, YSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command visited Ladakh including Siachen Glacier during a three day visit from 09 March to 11 March 2011.
The General Officer was received by Major General R K Yadav, Officiating General Officer Commanding, Fire and Fury Corps. During his first leg of visit he visited Eastern Ladakh and reviewed the state of defence preparedness. He also laid wreath at Rezang La War Memorial of 1962 operations.
The Army Commander also visited Siachen Glacier, the highest battlefield in the world The General interacted with the officers and troops and appreciated their efforts in carrying out their assigned tasks whilst braving the hardships of high altitude, weather and terrain in the most challenging area of the country. He assured them that the entire nation is aware and grateful to the soldiers for guarding the nations frontiers. He exhorted the soldiers to continue doing the excellent work
