| Chander Mohan turns down Khajuria’s proposal to return to BJP | | | Jammu, November 13 Efforts made by the newly elected state BJP chief Ashok Khajuria to win back support of Chander Mohan Sharma, Chief of Praja Parishad, seems to have gone waste amidst reports that Sharma had declined the offer to return home. Three years ago, the then BJP Vice President Chander Mohan Sharma had left the parent organization and floated the Praja Parishad over differences with the party leaders. Confirming their meeting ,Chander Mohan Sharma said that state BJP Chief Ashok Khajuria had come to seek blessings from his father, Mr Dina Nath,95-year old BJP leader, adding that “we met each other but without any discussion.” Asked whether he would rejoin the BJP Mr Sharma categorically stated that “there is no question of going back to the BJP.” He said that two days ago more than 75 BJP activists had joined Praja Parishad. “More BJP workers, including some senior leaders were expected to join Praja Parishad after they had become disillusioned with the growing dissidence in the BJP,”Sharma claimed. It may be mentioned that Ashok Khajuria had been meeting senior BJP leaders to win back their support. Till date he held meetings Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta,Thakur Baldev Singh and Shiv Charan Gupta and has termed them as satisfactory. Political observers closely following BJP said, If Mr Khajuria was able to secure sincere cooperation from Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta,Thakur Baldev Singh and Mr Shiv Charan Gupta, the BJP, in Jammu, may be able to reverse the process of severe erosion in its base. A senior political analyst said, BJP cannot afford to ignore its senior party leaders. They need their support base for better performance during the 2008 Assembly elections, he added. |
