| National Bench Press Championship starts tomorrow | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, March 10: Hosted by All Jammu and Kashmir Power Lifting Association under the aegis of Indian Power Lifting Federation, the National Bench Press Power Lifting Championship shall be held at Abhinav Theatre here from March 12.
“In this two-day event, over 400 lifters from 21 states of the country are expected to participate. It will be out of this competition that Indian team would be finalized for forthcoming Asian Bench Press Championship to be held at Chinese Tai Pai in August,” organizing secretary of the championship, Rajeev Charak told the press.
The championship shall be declared open by Minister for Sports, R S Chib at 11 am at Abhinav Theatre while Minister for Revenue and Political Advisor to the Chief Minister, Davinder Singh Rana have consented to be guests in the closing function a day later on March 13.
Special invitee for the mega event, vice-president of International Power Lifting Federation, Peter Throne of US also spoke to the media and shared his views.
