| 20 protesting technocrats arrested in Jammu | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Mar 10: About 20 technocrats were today arrested while they were protesting and marching towards Civil Secretariat in this winter capital of the state.
Demanding regularization, over 100 technocrats this afternoon took out a massive rally from Indira Chowk to march towards Civil Secretariat where already Section 144 CrPC has been imposed. Raising anti-government slogans, the technocrats carrying placards and banners tried to move towards the Secretariat Complex but heavy deployment of police and para-military troops foiled their attempt.
Despite heavy deployment of security forces, technocrats tried to march. They entered into a scuffle with the police following which police resorted to mild lathicharge and arrested about 20 technocrats under preventive measures. “Arrested technocrat engineers have been sent to the District Police Lines," a police official said.
Technocrats in Jammu and Kashmir are on agitation for the past two-years demanding regularisation and redressal to their long pending demands.
