PMGSY discriminates with Jammu contractual employees | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 10: In a brazen example of discrimination, computer operators and drivers of PMGSY department from Jammu division have alleged government of giving favours to their Kashmir counterparts. Computer Operator and Drivers were appointed on contractual basis in PMGSY department as per the guidelines of Govt. Order No. 423-PWD of 2006 dated: 27.10.2006. A delegation of Computer Operators and Drivers of PMGSY department from Jammu division told this newspaper that even after completing half of the period of contractual appointments against seven years tenure in PMGSY organization (Jammu province) on need basis/consolidated basis, ey were getting only a minimum wage of Rs. 4000/- per month while their Kashmir counterparts were getting more. They said that the notices for conducted of interview were issued three times under Chief Engineer PMGSY J&K’s Advertisement No. CE/PMGSY/967 dated: 26.05.2007, and Advertisement No. CE/PMGSY/5016-17 dated: 04.12.2008 and Advertisement No. CE/PMGSY/6613-15 dated: 02.02.2009, but never the interviews were held. They alleged that the interviews of their Kashmir province counterparts were conducted. They added that their counterparts, who too are working on need/Contractual basis like them, were interviewed in Kashmir province as a result of which at present they are drawing minimum revised pay scale of sixth pay commission. “We in Jammu province having equal experience of work in the Department are drawing only Rs. 4000 per month,” the representatives said. Delegation members said that their counterparts in valley after going through the Interview will be eligible for regular appointment on completion of seven years on contractual basis. Delegation members alleged Chief Engineer PMSGY Jammu Bimal Tikoo of misbehaving with them when they had approached him in this regard.
