One killed, 8 hurt in road mishaps | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU/DODA, Mar 10: A motorcyclist was killed and eight others were wounded in separate road accidents here today.An Innova (DL4CNT/0954) hit a motorcycle (JK02AQ/9265) on the Narwal Bypass road near Bagh-e-Bahu link road, police sources said. In the incident, motorcyclist Mohammad Latief, son of Mohammad Ali of Majeen, Majalta, was killed, while his pillion rider Mohammad Hanief, son of Mohammad Rashid of Ragur, Majalta, survived with critical injuries. Hanief was hospitalised. Police had seized the Innova and booked its driver under sections 279, 337 and 304-B of RPC. In another incident, seven persons, including six women, were injured in a minibus-water tanker collision at Suigarhi near Pul-Doda here.The minibus (JK02R/8957) was on its way from Pul-Doda to Thalella when it collided with a GREF water tanker which was coming from the opposite side. Seven persons travelling in the minibus sustained injuries, the sources added. Soon after the incident, cops of 151 CRPF Bn led by their CO Subash Chand started the rescue operation and evacuated the injured in their vehicles to the district hospital here, the sources added.The injured were identified as Sonika Devi (16), Pooja Devi (28) of Bhaderwah, Bitu Kumari (32) of Parnote, Phula Devi (45) of Suigarhi, Simple Devi (35) of Bhella, Rita Devi (40) of Bhella and Kashi Ram (27) of Parnote. Their condition was stated to be stable.Sources said the timely CRPF action was highly appreciated by locals.
