Bickering over 'family rule' remarks between NC, BJP & PP members in LA | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 10: The Assembly today witnessed exchange of bickering and taunts between ruling NC members on one side and BJP as well as Panthers Party MLAs from the other side with the latter taking serious note of what NC leader Dr Mustafa Kamal had observed in his speech on budget about Dogra rule and rulers. They also defended the system as 'far better' during Dogra rulers than the present government , while making a sarcastic remark the present system was promoting only a 'family rule' in the state. The remark infuriated the members from the ruling benches, who shouted back resulting in scenes of pandemonium and clamour in the House. It was during the discussion on budget when BJP senior leader and legislator Ashok Khajuria made an allegation that Finance Minister's indirect reference in the Budget speech was towards Dixon plan as he had talked about sub regions in the state. "There are only three regions in the state....there are no sub regions ......rest are all districts......Poonch Rajouri Doda are all separate districts under Jammu region...". Khajuria said alleging vehemently that government was deliberately trying to break the state and provoking on community towards another and one district towards other by making such 'divisive' references. By doing so you are vitiating the atmosphere .......and trying to impose fundamentalism", BJP leader asserted loudly, saying 'such conspiracies' would not be allowed to happen. Khajuria's remarks on sub regions not only invited ire from ruling NC members but PDP members also got agitated who got up from seats and objected to the line. NC's Nazir Gurezi alleged BJP only talked about Jammu when it came to development and never mention about Rajouri and Poonch. What further infuriated NC member was when Panther Party legislator leader sarcastically remarked 'family rule', something which he refuted vehemently.Balwant Singh Mankotia while participating in the speech countered Dr Mustafa Kamal's remarks on Dogra rulers alleging NC leader always tried to draw the parallels in negative line which was unacceptable and amounted to abusing the Dogra rulers. While Dr Kamal got up to clarify he never used abusive language but the very mention of the word 'zalimana' in his statement further infuriated the PP MLA. While this created clamour for some time, Panthers Party leader Harsh Dev also intervened contending if it was not family rule what else it is. Mankotia shouted and said that era was better because far less people got killed in 100 years as compared to present system when thousands are getting killed. The bickering over family rule continued with NC members defending it and BJP and PP Memebers making sarcastic remarks. |
