Assembly-2011 | Center requested to expedite appointment of VC central university: Malik | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, March 11-Minister for Higher Education Mr Abdul Gani Malik today said controversy that erupted in the wake of appointment of Vice Chancellor of Central University, Jammu has stalled the institution to take off. He said government of India has been requested to expedite the appointment of Vice Chancellor so that the institution starts functioning adding that the same was must for the institution to begin academic working. Responding to the point raised by Mr Harsh Dev Singh of NPP in the House, he said land has been already made available for the prestigious institution and other formalities stand completed already. Earlier, the legislator expressed concern over delay in coming up of the Jammu Central university. He said central universities have already come up in other parts of the country. Sakina assures release of honorarium to A/W workers/ helpers Jammu March 11- Minister for Social Welfare Ms Sakina Itoo today assured the House that honorarium to 28,000 Anganwari workers and Helpers engaged under ICDS will be released shortly. Replying to a point raised by CPI (M) legislator M Y Tarigami, she said the Centre will release its share soon while matching State share under the scheme stands already released. Earlier, Tarigami urged the government to release the honorarium of Anganwari workers and helpers forthwith, who he said have not received their dues for last six months.
