Bhalla lays foundation of Rs. 60 lakh slab work on nallah at Rampura

JAMMU, MARCH 11- Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Mr. Raman Bhalla has said coalition Government is making all out efforts to beautify all the open spaces on the embankments of canals and nallahs by developing recreational parks with modern attractions including illumination, seating, landscaping and drinking water facilities.
The Minister said this while interacting with the locals at Rampura after laying foundation stone of 300 meter long slab work on nallah, coming up at an estimated cost of Rs. 60 lakh.
Mr. Bhalla asked the Urban Environmental and Engineering Department (UEED) to complete the lantel work within stipulated time frame so that the area could be leveled for developing the recreational park. He asked to remove the debris from the road so that the inhabitants do not feel any inconvenience. He appealed the people not to dump garbage in lanes, drains and open spaces adding that such practices are unhygienic and turn into public nuisance.
Responding to the locals demand, the Minister asked the UEED to prepare the estimates for developing the recreational park on available space on Rampura-Shastri Nagar road near Durga Mandir and submit the same for funding so that the works could be started after completing tender formalities. Meanwhile, he asked to level the park area upto the height of nallah slab so that the slab area could also be utilized for park.
To improve the power scenario in Shastri Nagar, Sanjay Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Rampura and Parts of Nai Basti, Mr. Bhalla said the foundation of 10 MVA 33/11 KV Receiving Station at Shastri Nagar was laid and the execution work is under progress at an estimated cost of Rs. 3.26 crore. He said the project to be completed in May, 2011. He said after the commissioning of the receiving station, the power supply would witness great improvement adding that the development of receiving station was the long pending demand of the people of this area.
On the occasion, various prominent citizens apprised the Minister about the developmental demands of their respective areas. They appreciated the Minister for taking keen interest in executing various development works in his constituency.
