Rs 13.54 Cr spent under CAMPA | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, March 11 (KNS): Minister for Forests, Environment and Ecology Mian Altaf Ahmad today asked the senior functionaries of Forest Department to make all out efforts to save environment and ecology from degradation by way of strict implementation of various afforestation programmes launched by State Government. The Minister was presiding over a high level officers meeting of Forest Department here today, convened to take stock of compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMP) and national Afforestation Programme during last financial and first year of its inception. Minister was informed that during the current year an amount of Rs. 21.01 crore was earmarked for CAMPA works against which an amount of Rs. 13.54 crores has been spent till ending February 2011. During the current years funds under CAMPA to the tune of Rs. 2.22 crores were also allocated to Social Forestry Department for taking up the afforestation programme. It was also decided in the meeting that thrust of afforestation programme under CAMPA laid on areas of critical concern as Shopian, Rafiabad and also on areas which are important from tourist view such as Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Daksum areas etc. The meeting was among others attended by Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, R D Tiwari, Chief Wild Life Warden, P C Kapur, Principal Chief Wild Life, S.C. Sharma, Chief Conservator of Forest Jammu, S P Arya, Chief Conservator of Forests (Projects), S C Sharma, CCF (Project Coordinator) CAMPA and other senior officers of the Department.
