| Workshop on Disaster Management and life Saving techniques held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, March 11: Disaster Management Centre, University of Jammu in Jammu in collaboration with Office of the Programme Coordinator, NSS University of Jammu organized a two day workshop on Disaster Management and Life Saving Techniques in the Seminar Hall of Department of Computer Science, University of Jammu.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Prof. P.S. Rathania, Registrar, University of Jammu presided over the inaugural session where as Prof. Jasbir Singh, Programme Coordinator, NSS, University of Jammu was the guest/of honour. Prof. MA Malik Director Disaster Management Centre also shared the presidium alongwith other guests.
While welcoming the guests and participants Prof. Malik stressed the need of saving the society from every kind of disasters and with this aim centre in organizing this workshop to organise the society for managing the disasters.
Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Divsional Commissioner Jammu appreciated the Disaster the management centre of Jammu University in taking lead of creating awareness and training the people and also applauded the role of young NSS volunteers in the management of disasters.
Prof. Jasbir Singh, Programme Coordinator in his address called upon the NSS volunteers to come up to the expectations of the nation and be the saviors of the mankind..
After the inaugural session technical sessions on pre hospital management of victims of disasters and management were held by Dr. Ranbushan Singh and Prof. S.K. Shah, former HOD, Department of Geology, University of Jammu. Later on mock drill on fire fighting were conducted by Fire and Emergency Services Department under the supervision of S.C. Verma, Harpreet, Vaneet and other senior NSS volunteers were also present in the workshop.
