| Congress legislators told to avoid embarrassing NC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, March 11:- The Congress Legislators have been told not to join hands with BJP and Panthers Party who have been raising Jammu centric issues in the Legislative Assembly.
The Congress legislators, informed sources said also want to raise the issue agitated by th BJP and PP for `political reasons’. Sensing this, the Congress legislators have been told in clear terms not to embarrass the National Confrence by joining hands with the opposition parties.
Reports said that though the state unit of the Congress is not happy with the functioning of Chief Minister,Omar Abdullah,and his close associates the party has received clear directions from the high command to refrain from taking any step that could break or weaken the political arrangement.
The Congress high command is opposed to any move that could precipitate political crisis and uncertainty in the state.
The Congress high command believes that a strong Congress-NC Government was needed to keep the activities of militants under check. It also believes that a strong state Government was required to deal firmly with the secessionists who were planning to trigger civilian strife of the pattern that the Kashmir valley witnessed last summer which left 112 people dead.
