EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, March-11 (JNF):- Justice JP Singh has lifted the interim order dated January 25, 2011 and permitted the Union of India and its functionaries to finalize the process of induction of the State Police Officers to Indian Police Service. Court, however, said that this induction shall remain subject to the orders that may be passed in the writ petition.
This court direction has been passed in a petition filed by Ravinder Singh regarding his seniority and induction in the IPS. “On January 25, 2011, the writ Court modified the interim direction of January 20, 2011to the extent that respondents shall notify the select list for induction into Indian Police Service Cadre subject to condition that one post in the present lot of vacancies shall be kept reserved for the petitioner. The entitlement of the petitioner, however, shall be subject to the outcome of the petition and his eligibility for induction into the said service will be considered in the present selection”.
The Court after hearing the parties observed that in view of matter continuance of the interim order dated January 25, 2011 is not found to be, in the interests of the justice, police service and the parties to writ petition at the same time, the interests of the petitioner, in the event of his success in the petition too, needs to be protected and accordingly lifted interim order dated January 25, 2011 and permitted the Union of India to finalize the process of induction of the State Police Officers to the Indian Police Service.
