| Corrupt practices galore in PWD Rajouri | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT

RAJOURI, Mar 11: Apart from advance corruption and bribe for any of the work allotted to any contractor or mate in the border region of Poonch and Rajouri, officials of rural development department have raised their commission percentage from 40 to 45 percent while department of Roads and Buildings has enhanced it from 30 to 35 percent.
An official of RDD Rajouri while sharing details said that they are unable to do any quality work keeping in view the commission rate of the department which is about fifty percent. In the rest of the fifty percent, mate or contractor also sees his profit, and in such condition not more than 30 percent amount is spent on ground.
In RDD department, the official said that 10 percent goes to junior engineer, 5 percent for AE, 5 percent AEE, 5percent Executive Engineer and 3percent for technical section including draftsman. He added that this whole of the commission is paid in advance at the time of preparing of bills. He further said that while the non technical section gets its share through cashier/ accountant of BDO office at the time of payments at 5 percent for BDO, 3 percent for ACD, 3 percent for ADDC 2 percent for VLW 5 percent for accountant and 3percent for treasury staff.
However, in PWD department, contractors have some sort of relief as they have to pay 10 percent less as compared to the people involved in RDD department. As per the official sources, here in PWD department, a work supper wiser gets 5 percent junior engineer gets 10 percent, AEE gets 10 percent while rest of the 10 percent is deducted for executive engineer and his draftsmen.
