Every DH to have CT Scan next year: Sham | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu March11- Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma has said that every District hospital will be provided with CT Scan facility, adding that five such hospitals have already been equipped with this facility this year till date. Winding up discussion on the Grants of Health & Family Welfare departments in the Assembly, he said a project for creation and up-gradation of health units in nine districts of the State with hilly and rugged terrain has been submitted to the Centre for relaxing the population norms. Another proposal envisaging up gradation of 280 Allopathic Dispensaries and 180 Medical Aid Centres has also been sent to the Centre for funding, he said and added the results of the reformative measures taken by his department has started showing results on ground. The Minister said 12 AMT schools are coming up in the State in which 1000 educated youth will be trained in the initial phase. He said the revenue receipt of the department has gone up to Rs. 11.52 crore by the end of January this fiscal as against Rs. 5.16 crore recorded in 2008-09. Mr. Sham said Jammu and Kashmir has earned top notch in the primary healthcare in the entire country on account of marked improvement on all health parameters. He said the mortality rate has dropped to 45 as against 51 at national level. Similarly, the child sex ratio in the State is 941 as against national average of 933. He said 2300 posts of doctors and paramedics have been created to tide over the manpower shortage in the health institutions. He said 103 posts of Physiotherapists have been created for District and Sub-District hospitals in the State. Mr. Sham said the incentives for ASHAs have been enhanced to Rs. 2500 per case as against Rs. 600 in 2008. He said Rs. 1000 is being given as transport charges to the pregnant women for ensuring institutional delivery safely, adding that Rs. 500 are also being paid to such women who deliver at homes. Under the new scheme, Maa Tuje Salaam free of cost patient care is being provided to pregnant women and to the children up to the age of 5 years. He said under Health Insurance Policy, Rs. 1.50 lakh will be provided per BPL family, adding that Srinagar and Jammu districts will be covered under the scheme in the initial phase. For the purpose a nodal agency comprising officers of Rural Development, CAPD, social welfare and Labour Departments has been constituted, he said. The Health Minister said that 11 hospitals have been proposed for rural accreditation while six neonatal care units will be set up in the State. He said 25 Critical Care Ambulances and 50 life support ambulances are being procured to strengthen referral/emergency transportation for the patients.
