Governor visits Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, March 12 - On a visit to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, the Governor, Mr. N. N. Vohra, inaugurated a state of the art Mass ARRAY Genetic Analysis System Laboratory, which has been established for undertaking advance research in the field of bio-technology. The Governor, who is Chancellor of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, also laid foundation stone for a Residential Block, comprising 12 apartments with a built up area of approximately 16,000 sq. ft. This complex, estimated to cost Rs. 1.80 crore, is being built to meet the growing requirements of the residential accommodation for the Faculty members. This building is expected to be completed within a year. Later, the Governor reviewed the status of various infrastructure projects and overall functioning of the University in a two hour discussion with Prof. R. N. K. Bamezai, Vice Chancellor of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Mr. R. K. Goyal, Principal Secretary to Governor and Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board, Dr. M. K. Bhandari, Addl. CEO of the Shrine Board and Mrs. Roop Avtar Kour, Registrar of the University participated in the discussions in which Prof. Bamezai made a comprehensive Power Point Presentation covering all important issues relating to academic, administrative and financial matters. After discussions, the Governor, Mr. N. N. Vohra, sanctioned an additional amount of approx. Rs. 2.00 crore for supporting the University’s proposal to construct two additional blocks of residential quarters, a Day Care Centre, a Centre to provide basic facilities for women, and construction of a Boys Hostel. These infrastructural development projects are also expected to be commissioned within a period of one year.
