New Modern College celebrates Inernational Women day

Jammu , March 12: International Women’s Day was celebrated in New Modern College of Education Jammu with great fervour. The programme was scheduled on 8th of March, but could not be held due to certain unavoidable circumstances.
Guest lectures on ‘Women Empowerment’ were arranged to celebrate this event. Prof. Kiran Bakshi, Principal, Govt. College for Women, Parade was the Chief Guest and Mrs. Namrata Sharma, Corporator, Jammu Municipal Corporation, the Special guest. Others present included Mrs Sabeen Beg Wani of The Sree Tmes, Prof. Siraj-ud-Din Bhat, Principal, Staff and students of all the three New Modern group of Colleges and New Modern Hr. Sec. School, Sainik Colony.
The guests were greeted with the presentation of flower bouquet by the Principal; this was followed by the lighting of the lamp.
Prof. Siraj-ud-Din Bhat, Principal, welcomed the guests on behalf of the management, faculty and the students. In his welcome address, Prof. Siraj-ud-Din Bhat said that women have manifold responsibilities and time has come when they need to empower to take these responsibilities seriously women are accomplished and committed to having ambitious careers. The need is to fix the systems and processes, encourage role models and customize leadership programmes for women. Women need freedom as well as trust, Prof. Siraj-ud-Din Bhat said.
Namrata Sharma, Corporator, Sainik Colony Jammu Municipal Corporation said that it is only the women who can uplift their status by acquiring higher Education. She talked about the 33% reservation of Women in Parliament and hoped that the bill will be passed in this session and said that when Women will enter the threshold of Politics, changes would be obvious in this field which would lead to betterment of the whole society.
Prof. Kiran Bakshi, Principal, Govt. College for Women, Parade highlighted the role contributed by Women for the welfare of the human being in the freedom struggle of the country and in the growth and development of the country
