3/12/2011 10:25:52 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu March 12, 2011:- Chief Minister’s Political advisor, Davinder Singh RAna today accused the BJP and PDP of forming an “unholy and clandestine” alliance to vitiate peaceful atmosphere of the state. He was addressing a public meeting in Panchayat Bhagani of Nagrota, here today.
He said National Conference will not allow the fringe elements either in Jammu or in Kashmir to play the regional card because the design of these elements is detrimental to the cause of the state of Jammu & Kashmir and is not acceptable to the people of the state.
Addressing the gathering Rana said that the state had always suffered because of the divisive politicking of negative elements who occasionally surface but the people of all regions and religions were now unanimous over the need to protect a harmonious atmosphere.
Rana said that Kashmir as well as Jammu had immensely suffered during the disturbance generated and perpetuated by negative elements in the last couple of years as the economy of Jammu & Kashmir rests hugely on the size of tourist traffic. He said that over twenty lacs people in the state of Jammu & Kashmir were directly and indirectly dependent on tourism and their entire sustenance was subservient to an atmosphere of peace and tranquility. He warned actors of disturbance that the government as well as the people of the state would come down heavily upon them if they made any attempt to disturb peace with their exploitative slogans, be that in Kashmir or Jammu.
Rana said National Conference and its workers will fight such forces and defeat them in their nefarious designs because Jammu & Kashmir is an epitome of secularism, brotherhood and communal harmony and nobody will be allowed to disturb the peaceful harmonious secular fabric of the state.
Rana made an appeal to the people at large to participate in large numbers in the forthcoming Panchayat and Civic body elections and leave no room for machinations of the exploitative elements.

Addressing the gathering Aijaz Jan MLA Poonch called upon the people to come forward and participate actively in the forthcoming panchayat elections. He said the elected representatives of the panchayats, blocks and districts will take decisions regarding governance at the grass root level which he said will ensure transparency, accountability and genuine participation in the system. He also urged the women folk to not only come in huge number to cast their votes in these panchayat elections, but also contest in these elections as candidates.
Among others who were present on the occasion included Sham Lal, Anwar Khan, Master, Dhrub Singh, Sain Khan, Bittu, Sham Singh, Ravinder Singh, Kuldeep Dubey, Kuldeep Singh Jamwal, Milkhi Ram, Sub. Vishavnath and others.
