Members demands Industrial promotion, jobs for local youth

Jammu March 12- Initiating discussion on the grants of Industries department, Mr. Nizam-ud-Bhat said survival of the State depends upon its Industrial Sector and government should initiate steps for further promotion of world famous Kashmir handicrafts and explore marketing for the produce of artisans.
Mr. Sajad Ahmed Kitchloo sought extraction of sapphire from Paddar of Doda district which he said will generate employment avenues for the local youth and demanded allotment of space in Kishtwar Industrial Estate for intending entrepreneurs.
Mr. M.Y. Tarigami called for promoting employment oriented industry in the State. He stressed on area specific promotion of industry with focus on handicrafts and assured marketing for the handicrafts of poor artisans in view of heavy dependence of the people on this vital sector. He said government should ensure engagement of 90% youth in the industrial ventures set up by investors.
Mr. Ashok Kumar said stressed extraction of Gypsum in the hills of Ramban district. He urged the government to set up industrial ventures in different areas on the basis of availability of raw material.
Mrs. Bimla Luthra demanded separate industrial estates for the women folk.
Mr. Yashpal Kundal demanded engagement of local youth in industries. He also demanded ban for establishment of industrial units on agriculture land.
Mr. Zahoor Ahmed Mir demanded absorption of 60 employees of Khrew minerals plant in other units of JK Industries Ltd. He also demanded settlement of cases of retiree employees of JK Minerals.
Dr. Mustafa Kamal demanded promotion of handicrafts, handlooms, silk, pashmina, carpet, paper-machie, bat industry. He also demanded augmenting training centres of handicrafts and handloom centres in the State.
Mr. Lal Chand demanded setting up of mineral extraction units in Bani and extraction of iron ore. He also demanded issuance of licences to technocrats only for establishment of industries.
Mr. Abdul Haq Khan demanded setting up of industrial Estate in Kupwara district to overcome the un-employment. He also demanded financial assistance only to those units holders who can revive their sick units.
Mr. Krishan Chander demanded setting up of small scale industrial units in his constituency, besides training centres in four blocks of Chenani.
Mir Saif-ullaha said non-serious entrepreneurs should be discouraged. He demanded exploitation of local resources like marble, lime stone, gypsum, silk, coal etc.
Mr. Charanjit Singh said that regular power supply needs to be kept available to the entrepreneurs and demanded that industrial units should not be set up on agriculture land besides incentives and financial assistance be provided to prospective entrepreneurs for establishment of their units.
Er. Abdul Rashid sought Government’s attention for exploring wood carving, handicrafts and handloom industry in Langate constituency. He also demanded survey for ascertaining gypsum in the area besides pleading for removal of stone crushers in the area.
Mr. Abdul Majid Wani said that though the industrial growth in the State has increased needs more exploitation for tackling unemployment problem. He said the natural mineral resources of erstwhile Doda district needs to be explored.
