Bindra Karat for unconditional talks with Kashmiris | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Mar 12 : The CPI (M) leader and Rajya Sabha MP, Brinda Karat, Saturday urged New Delhi to start unconditional talks with Kashmiris to resolve the Kashmir dispute. After interacting with several women at SKICC here, Karat said, “New Delhi should initiate unconditional dialogue process with Kashmiris to address their genuine grievances.” Karat who is part of a four member MP delegation who have come to Kashmir to interact with women said, “There is a need to address injustice happening with women in Kashmir. Healing touch is needed and forces should be tamed. Those who are involved in the killings of last year’s summer unrest should be punished. They weren’t militants carrying guns, but civilians.” She demanded a tribunal to be appointed to probe the violence on women in Kashmir. There is a need fair and time bound probe,” she added. Besides Karat, MPs, Choudhary, Viplo Dhar and Mebel Rebelo earlier interacted with State Women Commission Chairperson, Shamima Firdous, its Secretary, Hafiza Muzaffar, Dr Nahida Soz, Nighat Shafi Pandit, Syeda Afshana, Afsana Rashid, Rabia Baji, Asiya Naqash, Dilafroz Qazi and Jehan Ara at SKICC to know their views about the sufferings of Kashmiri women. The delegation has come to Kashmir in the backdrop of complaints that three-member interlocutor team appointed by New Delhi last year, had less interaction with women.
