Jammu, March 12: Former Minister and Vice President PCC Yash Paul Khajuria held a meeting with the functionaries of District Congress Committee Udhampur, Block Presidents, ex-councilors of MC Udhampur, ex-Surpanches, Panches and prominent party workers at Udhampur today.
Addressing the meeting Khajuria asked the party functionaries of Udhampur district to gear up themselves for the ensuing Panchayat elections. He appealed them to select educated, honest and dedicated candidates for this basic institution of democracy.
People are facing hardships in many areas of Udhampur district as have not been electrified even after 64 years of independent and the people are facing hardships. He demanded that all such areas which have not been electrified so far should be covered on the top priority.
Khajuria said that due to recent rains the crops have been damaged in Udhampur district. He urged upon the revenue authorities to access the loss in order to provide relief to farmers.
The people whose land came under PMGSY (Prime Ministers Grameen Sadak Yojana) have not been compensated. Under rule the compensation should be paid before the construction of roads under PMGSY scheme. He demanded early payment of compensation to the them.
