| Romesh for speedy development of rural areas | | | Jammu, Nov 13 Saying that government is committed for the development of rural areas particular those along the line of control said Minister of State for Industries and Commerce Dr. Romesh Chander Sharma at Sunderbani. He asked the people to keep eye on all developmental works being carried out in their villages by rural development department and ensure they receive benefits of the schemes. He said, two modern villages one each in Nowshera and Sunderbani are being developed in first phase. He said under the leadership of Ghulam Nabi Azad the state has registered maximum development in every sphere of life during last one year. He distributed cheques of Rs 5.20 lakhs, among 40 beneficiaries of Sunderbani and Nowshera under IAY scheme for construction and repair of houses. Minister also distributed pension cheques among widows. He stressed upon the village level workers to survey their respective areas and see that no genuine case is left. Minister asked the social welfare department to prepare list of all such widows who have died, so that fresh widow cases, which are pending would be incorporated in the list. He said that the department must train women folk in different skills, so that they can earn their livelihood even at their homes. A deputation of handicapped person met the Minister and demanded artificial limbs for the children particularly those who have lost their limbs during last 15 years of turmoil. He also inspected some works being executed by rural development department at Sunderbani and Nowshera and asked the officers to speed up works so that all the funds are utilized and people get benefited. The Minister informed the residents that Rs 10 crore have been sanctioned for the water supply scheme of Sunderbani town under town plan and work would start soon. |
