HuM divisional commander among 3 ultras killed in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 12: A Harkat-ul-Mujahideen (HuM) divisional commander and two other top militants were today killed by security forces in separate gunbattles in Shopian and Sopore areas of Kashmir. Acting on specific information, security forces last night launched a search operation in Lehend-Habdipora area of Shopian, police sources said. An encounter broke out between the hiding militants and security forces late last night and ended this morning with the killing of both the ultras. The slain militants were identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Chopan of Harmain, Shopian, and Khursheed Ahmad of Yatoo near Reban, Shopian. They had snatched an INSAS rifle and an AK rifle from two cops at Yaripora, Kulgam, Monday last. Both the weapons were recovered from them, the sources added. In another encounter, HuM divisional commander Chota Kahimullah alias Shamsher alias Talwar Bhai was killed jointly by police, 22 RR and 177 and 179 battalions pf CRPF at Muslim peer in Sopore. One AK 47 rifle, its six magazines and one pistol magazine were recovered from him. The killing of three ultras comes two days after two militants, including top Jaish-e-Mohammad commander Sajjad Afghani, were killed in a shootout in Forestshore road area of the city. Sources said the operation was in progress in the area when reports last came in. |
