7 year old twins from J&K create history
Fly microlite aircraft as co-pilot

New Delhi/Jammu, Mar 13,: Seven year old twin brother- sister Swapnil & Swapnila created wonder today when they flew a Microlite Aircraft as Co-Pilot at New Delhi. Both of them flew Microlite Aircraft for fifteen minutes each in two different sorties. The special flying was organized by Airforce Adventure Wing who are constantly doing good work to spread awareness of Aviation as an adventure activity amongst public and to give exposure to youth for Air Force as a career option.
The Jammu based twin brother-sister Swapnil & Swapnila got this rare and Historic opportunity for the first time from JK. The dare devil twin got special invitation from Airforce Advance wing after being spotted in news for their Pushpak experience. Both of them had a cockpit experience in ground run of Army Aviation’s Pushpak expedition in Jammu in February this year.
It was around one pm today when Swapnil got first Call Sign fro Air Traffic Control from Hindan Airbase and were given clearance for take off. The next turn was for Swapnila. Wg Cdr Akhilesh Chauhan was the Captain of the flights. Sgt MP Singh and Sgt Santosh who are specially trained from Germany also helped a lot to the kids to make their historic flying memorable. While sharing is experience the Chief Instructor and Pilot Wg Cdr Akhilesh Chauhan said that “Swapnil is more active with strong Technical conception while Swapnila has inquisitive mind with sense of maturity. He also expressed his happiness for fantastic and enjoyable flying with these wonder twin. Before the flying, both of them were given a detailed briefing about the system and safety of flying of the Microlite Aircraft.

The jubilant Swapnila and Swapnil said after flying that they were too excited after getting the offer from New Delhi. They were waiting to finish their class one examination. As soon as it was over, they came all the way from Jammu with their parents for this special sortie. Swapnil said “ It was amazing to see the view from sky and felt himself as BIRD in the sky”. Swapnila told “Pilot uncle was so kind that each and everything was easy to control the joy stick”. Both of them safely touched down after completion of the flight.

Mrs Sarmistha Acharya the proud mother of twin said that the children were more enthusiastic where as I myself was little bit worry. She also said that the children are from a tiny village of Hooghly District of West Bengal who are being brought up and are studying in Jammu since their birth. The parents were also proud for the twins for achieving this rare feat for the first time for J&K and West Bengal.
